John Mahoney
John Mahoney graduated form Hoftsra University,
School of Law and is a litigator and trial lawyer with more
than twenty years of experience in Construction, Real Estate,
Project Financing and Police Liability. Mr. Mahoney is highly
regarded in resolving Real Estate and Construction issues involving
zoning, land use, wetlands, public bid challenges, project
delays, defective performance, structural failures and lender
liability. Mr. Mahoney's practice focuses upon the representation
of owner-developers, contractors and some of America’s
largest surety firms, in both the private and public sectors.
In addition to his litigation practice, he has negotiated and
drafted complex construction contracts for hotels, health care
facilities, university residence halls, office buildings and
high-rise residential buildings. Further, he has been instrumental
in placing and negotiating multi-million dollar financing for
all types of commercial, industrial and residential projects
throughout the country. In addition to traditional legal work,
he has developed a career and sub-specialty in police training
and tactics. When not in a courtroom, he can be found in a
classroom, as a NYS Certified Police Instructor.
John Mahoney is a member of the NYS Bar Association, American
Trial Lawyers Association, American Society of Law Enforcement
Trainers and Law Enforcement Training Directors of New York State.
In addition, Mr. Mahoney is admitted to practice law before the
courts of New York and New Jersey, the associated Federal District
Courts, the United States Court of International Trade and the
United States Tax Court. Mr. Mahoney has taught business law
or labor relations law at both Nassau Community College and Middlesex
Community College. He authored multiple training guides for law
enforcement and community response teams. He speaks and writes
extensively on all aspects of Homeland Security, including NIMS,
ICS, WMD and the Use of Force. He also serves as an active NYS
Peace Officer and is private pilot - fixed wing and rotocraft,
NRA - Patron, and life member of BASS.
